Farewell flowers

Losing a loved one is never easy, and flowers have long been a comforting way to honour and celebrate their life. As we seek ways to tread more gently on the planet, choosing sustainable farewell flowers is a heartfelt and eco-conscious way to pay tribute.

There are so many types of floral tributes and arrangements that can be tailored to honour your loved one. This ranges from fresh flowers to compostable and living plant arrangements. I can also create custom arrangements with personal items, such as walking boots, a favourite watering can

Being kind to the environment is at the heart of everything we do. Traditional funeral arrangements often involve imported flowers, plastic foam, and non-biodegradable elements that can have a lasting environmental impact. We use the following eco-friendly practices to ensure that every bloom, stem, and arrangement respect nature while still capturing the beauty and sentiment needed for such a meaningful occasion.

  1. Locally Grown Blooms. I use flowers from our own Cheshire flower farm and prioritise sourcing flowers from local and British farms depending on the season. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with transportation while supporting regional growers.

  2. Seasonal Flowers. I work with the seasons selecting the best blooms that are available locally. If you would like a specific type of flower that isn’t in season, I always try my best to source it or use creative alternatives such as dried or crocheted flowers.

  3. Avoiding Floral Foam and single use plastic. Traditional floral foam is a single-use micro plastic that does not break down in landfills and the particle gets into our waterways. I use sustainable floristry techniques moss, or compostable bases to create beautiful arrangements without harm to the environment.

  4. Compostable materials. All the natural elements such as twigs, foliage, and flowers can be composted after use. Where we do use receptacle for arrangements, we offer a recycling service where they can be used again.

  5. Repurpose flowers afterwards. You may wish to gift flowers to friends or take them home to dry as a keepsake. Flowers can also be given a second life through local charities such as hospices that take donations of flowers.

Each life is unique, and so should every tribute. We work closely with families to design arrangements that reflect their loved ones. Whether it’s a specific colour palette, a favourite flower, or symbolic blooms, I bring a personalised and eco-friendly touch to every creation.
